Memory Remains features photographs taken by Spanish installation artist Francesc Torres. Nearly 2 million tons of debris were removed from Ground Zero in the months after September 11. Artifacts deemed historically significant were salvaged and bought to Hangar 17 at John F. Kennedy International Airport. Before some of these artifacts were transferred to the 9/11 Memorial Museum, Torres was given access to Hangar 17 to ensure that this temporary space also became a permanent part of the record of 9/11. The photographs in Memory Remains are nothing short of remarkable.
