Dogs played an important role during the rescue and recovery efforts in the wake of the tragedy of 9/11. Their jobs varied from detection, search and rescue, and therapy at the sites. They provided comfort and consolation in times of distress. Though most are no longer with us, they carry on through the memory of those touched by them.
The 9/11 Memorial and Museum are possible only through your support.

On September 11, 2001, Port Authority Police Lt. David Lim was in the basement of the South Tower with his K-9 partner, Sirius, a dog trained to detect explosives. When Lim felt the building shake, he left Sirius in his kennel while he went to investigate. Lim was aiding in the evacuation of the North Tower when the building collapsed. He survived inside an air pocket within a stairwell. Sirius died in the South Tower collapse.
